Places To See

Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish

Don’t miss the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, one of the oldest churches in Colorado, dating back to 1863 and the “El Santuario de los Pebladore” the sacred meditation/prayer labyrinth.

Cano’s Castle

Marvel at the unique architecture of Cano’s Castle, a striking folk art structure made from an eclectic mix of materials including scrap metal, beer cans, and hubcaps. Built by local artist Donald “Cano” Espinoza, this four-tower castle is a true testament to creativity and resourcefulness, drawing visitors from all over to witness its one-of-a-kind charm.

Visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve

A short drive from Antonito, the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve offers vast sand dunes to explore, with hiking, sledding, sandboarding, and explore the tallest sand dunes in North America. The park also features grasslands, wetlands, and alpine forests.

If you come at the right time of year, you can enjoy the seasonal Medano Creek, where visitors can enjoy a natural “beach” in the high desert along a river caused by the snow melting on the mountain. The park is also a great place for stargazing due to its remote location.

While in the neighborhood, don’t forget to check out an amazing hidden gem – Zapata Falls.
